PS2 Library

Welcome to PS2 Library!

Hi there, I'm rarenight. If you don't know me, I've been a moderator over at No-Intro for years now. Since 2017, I've submitted hundreds of thousands of gaming-related metadata to No-Intro. Additionally, I've programmed all sorts of custom tools to facilitate batch archival of media. I believe there is great value in cataloguing non-game multimedia as a vector for holistic, long-term, and museum-quality preservation of the games industry for future generations to enjoy.

My multimedia cataloguing project is called PS2 Library, established December 1st, 2025. I aim to catalog all known multimedia related to PS2 for long-term preservation of PS2 history and art. The content I have catalogued is aggregated from all corners of the Internet into one cohesive project.

Why not catalog other consoles?

tl;dr:
- I have a lot of childhood nostalgia for PS2
- Going PS2-only simplifies my life
- I don't like the PS1
- PS2 was the last old-school console
- PS2 was the sweet spot in the games industry

Scope:

PS2 Library rigorously catalogues everything you can think of that celebrates or showcases or educates us about PS2 in some way.

PS2 Library independently dumps and scans PS2 multimedia to catalog their metadata. If you're curious about the retail PS2 game discs that PS2 Library has independently preserved to-date in Redump, you can find that list here. Additionally, PS2 Library collates PS2-related metadata from a wide variety of external sources, including Redump, No-Intro, TOSEC, RetroAchievements, EmuMovies, Video Game Scanning Collective, Retromags, VGM Archive, Gaming Alexandria, Internet Archive, Hidden Palace, The Cutting Room Floor, Creative Uncut, YouTube, PSX Place, Z-Library, GameFAQs, MobyGames, Wikipedia, Romhacking.net, Romhack.ing, ROMHack Plaza, and more. A big thanks to everyone from those projects who has contributed to PS2 multimedia preservation over the years.

PS2 Library excludes media where an Internet personality uses a PS2 game as a backdrop for entertainment rather than education. Excluded from PS2 Library are Let's Plays, Speedruns, Tournaments, Twitch streams, and low-value YouTube reaction videos. Also excluded from PS2 Library due to time constraints are News Sites, Social Media, Fan Art, and Fan Music with minimal historical or educational value.
